Meredith was better in the broadcast booth...as Howard's foil.....LOL  Dandy Don and Craig Morton combined to make a complete QB...sort of.

He lives here in Seattle, Reecey...he's pretty hot, IMO. Heh heh.

Yep STC - no argument there. Flutie is of good character. As is Jim Kelley.

Reecey

Warren played for a very long time.  I admit that I like him a whole lot, but my opinion is very biased for personal reasons.  (ie Oiler Blue)

I even liked him when he went up to Minnesota.

HawkGirl67
14 Nov 2008 18:43:05Avatar

Ahh...Dandy Don...he used to crack me up on MNF!!

I wish the Texan residents were here to talk about Meredith. Sure, Troy and Roger were great and Meredith wouldn't crack top ten...........just wondering what Cowboy fans think.

For a guy who was an eighth-round draft pick and a 27-year-old rookie, Rodger did pretty well.  He lead the Cowboy to nine of their NFL record 20 consecutive winning seasons and was a Super Bowl MVP.

14 Nov 2008 18:32:52Avatar

Stevie, I'm talking about Roger Staubach.  He led his team to twenty-three come-from-behind victories in the fourth quarter, with 17 of these coming in the last two minutes.  He personified the leader part of quarterbacking.

SteveTheCat
14 Nov 2008 18:32:32Avatar

Reecey
14 Nov 2008 18:31:48Avatar

That's very true Em... That's what make the talk difficult... A QB is widely considered the leader of their team much of their success is based on their team but without great leadership they may not have made it their either...

SteveTheCat
14 Nov 2008 18:21:18Avatar

<--- maybe I should just send send this down for Josh for Christmas Refreah

HawkGirl67
14 Nov 2008 18:19:35Avatar

I think Montana, Bradshaw and Marino are top contenders...and Marino didn't win any Super Bowls. His stats are impressive, as was his leadership on the field.

Emeritus
14 Nov 2008 18:18:39Avatar

I've never agreed that Super Bowl wins should be the test of quarterbacks.  That says more about the team than it does about the quarterback.  By that measure, Terry Bradshaw is the best quarterback ever.  Being a top quarterback is also about more that passing records.  The quality that I most admire in a quarterback is the ability to lift the play of his whole team.  Some can drive their team down the field and they do it when the most is at stake.  I don't know who was the best quarterback of all time, but I am grateful that I was able to watch so many of them.
